one of our most recent and surprising discoveries have been made about stubborn chest acne.
one of our very loyal and regimented clients had the most relentless chest acne, and even with multiple extractions, chemicals peels and regular regimen maintenance, the acne persisted. it seemed to get a bit better right after the treatments, but inevitably would still come back.
then i got into detective mode and started asking her questions. is she really being faithful with the regimen? were her body products acne-safe? were her hair-products acne safe? was she using laundry detergent that was SLS-free? was she wearing cotton clothing (desirable) and avoiding synthetic fabrics? she answered yes to all these questions, like an sS acne-safe lifestyle abiding client should. ;)
then i asked her, if she laid in bed with her honey at night? and if so, would her chest be exposed and actually touching his body? yes, she said! what was he using? maybe he was using a cloggy body lotion? she said no, all he uses is dove bar soap. no other products. no lotions, no face creams, no lipbalms, no nothing. he just washes with dove bar soap.
perhaps the dove soap bar's residue was somehow rubbing off onto her, so i suggested she steer her man into using her acne-safe shikai body wash for a few weeks to see if it would help her chest clear up. and voila, it did!
ps - sS carries shikai body wash in yuzu (a unisex japanese citrus scent, $10), but more flavors are available at whole foods and rainbow grocery. all the flavors should be safe, but do avoid the coconut one, since they probably use coconut oil to scent it (and coconut oil is cloggy!).
